I'm a novice predator hunter and caller. I have been out twice on my own, and I've had no luck. I suspect it's my lack of calling skills. I want to develop good calling skills, but am now thinking about getting a Foxpro or similar unit.
I'm looking for recommendations - should I look at a Foxpro, or at some other product? What specific model do you recommend? Where is the best deal on buying one of these?
Thanks

Might as well get one now they are worth it! Because you will end up buying one sooner or later..... They have come down in price since I bought mine worth every penny...
Get a few hand calls to add to the mix of your calling sequence.

What model do you guys recommend? The Fury GX7 is nice, but awfully pricey.

Foxpro makes many electronic callers ranging from the new Spitfire for $200 up to units that cost $600. You need to look at the features and decide how many bells and whistles you think you need.
AP Jones at AllPredatorCalls.com has the best deals on all electronic callers. Give them a call or visit the website.

Steve, I'm a Novice also - although I've had my Foxpro FX3 and have made about 10 stands with no luck. Some typical features, as you may have read, include the distance of your remote control to your call, a plug-in for an external speaker and/or a decoy, and battery life. If you get one, I can email some .mpg calls if you like, I have a variety.

I ended up going with the Minaska Big Country. Thanks, Scott, for the demo of this unit at the recent APC meeting. I'll try it out this Saturday and see how it performs.

I like the simplicity of the remote and the power of the TOA speaker. Lot sof other brands have many bells whistles but in reality are just frills that jack up the price.
Now you have the caller you just need to get into some areas with predators!

Went out Saturday morning, set the unit about 50 feet in front of me, and started with a jackrabbit call. Within 2-3 minutes, a large coyote came charging in. We saw three others circle around us in the 10 minutes after that. There is no doubt that this unit works really well.
I couldn't get them to come in any closer, though ... wonder if I had the volume too high and maybe that was making it unrealistic to the yotes when they got within the 50 yd range.

Now may be the time to consider a long range rifle.
